“Scouting for Food”
Cubs Scouts, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in Vernon have dropped off yellow bags across town for this years food drive.

We're now asking people in town to place items in the bag and leave it on your doorstep or near your mailbox this Saturday, November 5th for pickup. The food collection will begin at 9 a.m. so please make sure your donation is out by then.
All food collected will go to benefit the clients of Hockanum Valley Community Council’s food pantry. Food is needed all year round, but there is an increased need as the holiday season approaches.
If you did not receive a bag but you see other houses in your neighborhood with yellow bags, you can leave your donation out in a regular grocery bag with a sign indicating that it is for the “Scouting for Food” drive. If you do not see bags in your neighborhood or otherwise are not able to leave food out that day, you can bring donations to the American Legion building located at 114 West Street on Saturday November 5th from 9 a.m. until noon. Additionally, the food pantry is available throughout the week for donations. They are located at 29 Naek Road, call 860-872-7727 for hours.
