Serious Crash Closes Segment of Route 83 In Vernon
A portion of Route 83 was closed for several hours Thursday night following a collision between a motorcycle and another vehicle.
VERNON, CT — Two people were seriously injured in a collision between a motorcycle and another vehicle Thursday night on Route 83, according to police.
The crash happened shortly before 8 p.m. near Merline Road. A man operating the motorcycle was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, while a female passenger was flown via LifeStar helicopter to Hartford Hospital. Both suffered "life-threatening injuries," Lt. William Meier said.
Route 83 was closed between Thrall and Dart Hill roads while an accident reconstruction team worked at the scene, Meier said.
