Authorities are investigating the death of a dog at a Vernon kennel facility.

VERNON, CT — Authorities are investigating the death of a dog at a Vernon kennel facility.
The incident happened Monday and local police confirmed it on Wednesday.
Jason Bowsza, a spokesman for the state Department of Agriculture, which oversees the state Animal Control Division, said two pit bulls killed a "small dog" while in the care of Fancy Feet, located at 601 Talcottville Road in Vernon.

He was adamant that it was the first incident at Fancy Feet and that the business has always passed inspections well.
The pit bulls were "euthanized," he said.

Bowsza said the local animal control division will compile a report and then animal control officials at the state level will complete the investigation into the incident.
