VERNON, CT — A "small spare tire" was a factor in a wild crash on an Interstate 84 ramp in Vernon last week, according to a state police report.

The crash took place at 4:49 p.m. on April 14.

A 2015 Toyota sedan being driven by a 35-year-old Manchester man was heading east on I-84 and merged onto the Exit 64 high occupancy vehicle lane off-ramp, according to a report.

The car had a "small spare tire" on the rear driver's side and it was a factor in it losing traction, according to a crash report.

The car hit a wall on the right shoulder, skidded across the ramp and slammed into a concrete barrier in the center median, according to a report. Every air bag in the car deployed, according to a report.

The driver was taken to Hartford Hospital after displaying "an altered mental status" following the crash, according to the report.
