Snow Business: Want Plattekill Mountain All to Yourself?

ROXBURY, NY — Planning a corporate outing? Thinking about a winter wedding or even a snowball prom? How about your own private snow sports area for the occasion?

Ski Plattekill in New York State's Catskill Mountains offers private mountain rentals for any occasion. While private events are welcome throughout the year, given the mountain's main business as a ski resort, private mountain use is most popular during the winter months.

Typically taking place mid-week, winter private mountain rental guests get exclusive use of the mountain, including all open ski trails and lifts. The rental fee includes up to 250 lift tickets (more available for purchase), optional private use of the snow tubing park, and group discounts on equipment and lessons.

Plattekill Mountain's staff works with group leaders to arrange specific meal and beverage needs as well, ensuring a unique experience for each customer.

"The 2016-17 ski season set a new precedent," owner Laszlo Vajtay said. "It was the first time every private rental date available was booked for the season. We hope to keep that momentum going and have another full year."

The price to rent the mountain is currently $3,500 but will go up to $4,500 after Oct. 31.
