CONNECTICUT, CT — Wendy's is not officially supposed to dive into the competitive fast food breakfast market until March 2, but many restaurants are already serving up early morning fare.

That was certainly the case in Vernon and other spots in the state last week into this week.

In September, Wendy's announced that it will be launching breakfast offerings nationwide on March 2.

New menu items include:

  • Breakfast sandwiches on "classic" buns, biscuits and croissants. Anchoring the choices are the Breakfast Baconator and the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit
  • The Frosty-ccino, a coffee drink based on Weddy's signature Frosty desserts
  • Breakfast fries as sides to make combo meals

One selling point in Wendy's announcement was "freshly cracked eggs."

"Our crew will be hand-cracking fresh eggs on all our breakfast sandwiches and leaning into the quality ingredients that have long set Wendy's apart from the competition," Wendy's U.S. president Kurt Kane said in a statement.

Wendy's claims that some fast food joints use "egg patties that contain various fillers."

Wendy's has been airing breakfast launch commercials for some time.
