St John’s, Vernon, Gives Scholarships to Local Students

For just over a decade, St. John's has offered scholarships to local students.

St. John’s Episcopal Church, 523 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, has awarded the Marianne Wellner scholarship to Rockville High School graduate Victoria Prignano, and the Wellner / Cabaniss scholarship to Tolland High School graduates Sophie West and Trevor Millington. The Reverend Marc Eames met with the students recently to discuss their plans. In the Fall, Victoria will attend Eastern Conn. State University where she is interested in writing, photography and early childhood education. Sophie is headed to the University of New Haven but really from late August until November 19 will be in Prato Italy for her first semester. Trevor will be attending the University of Maryland. Sophie and Trevor both plan to major in Criminal Justice.

The scholarships were established by the Rev. Robert Wellner, former rector of St John’s, and Ruth Wellner, in loving memory of Marianne Wellner and David Cabaniss.
