State Police Still Trying To ID Driver In Fatal I-84 Crash In Vernon
A driver was killed in a fiery, two-truck crash on I-84 in Vernon Wednesday.

VERNON, CT — State police Friday said they are still trying to confirm the identity of a truck driver killed in a fiery crash involving his and another truck on Interstate 84 Wednesday.
The extent of the injuries were that severe, state police said.
The crash took place at 11:16 p.m.

Here's what we know, per state police:
- At the time of the incident, a Volvo tractor-trailer Truck was parked on the right shoulder on the eastbound side of I-84 in Vernon.
- A Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on I-84, approximately one mile prior to Exit 67.
- For "an unknown reason," the Freightliner entered the right shoulder and struck the Volvo, causing the Freightliner to catch fire.
- The operator of the Volvo semi-truck, a 56-year-old Indiana man, sustained no injuries and refused medical treatment.
- The driver of the Freightliner sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. State police are still waiting on a coroner's report to identify the man.
