Stolen Vehicle Recovered After Traffic Stop In Vernon

The incident began with a bad plate, police said.

VERNON, CT — Vernon police recovered a stolen car early Friday morning and charged the driver with felony larceny.

The Acura was heading north on West Street at 1:03 a.m. and was pulled over after an officer on patrol noticed it had an erroneous plate, according to an incident report.

The car then came up as being stolen out of New Haven, according to an incident report. The car was confiscated and the driver, identified as 26-year-old Hartford resident Angel Rivera, was charged with third-degree larceny, the improper use of a marker plate, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving while under suspension and an insurance violation.

Rivera was released on a $10,000 bond and is due in Rockville Superior Court on Jan. 17, records show.
