VERNON, CT — Vernon department of Public Works crews spent a good portion of Monday cleaning up from a very rude visit the previous evening from a strong, but quick-moving storm.

The heavy rain and wind caused a tree to come down across the Rockville spur of the rail trail north of Regan Road. Debris blocked catch basins on Bamforth Road. All were cleared by the DPW.

The Waste Water Treatment Plant, was without power for a portion of Sunday night, but the newly installed generator kicked on and "operated flawlessly," municipal officials said.
