VERNON, CT — A surprise ethnic dish served at Rockville High School Wednesday received rave reviews.

It's been the motto lately of school system Director of Food and Nutrition Services to "try new things," and the cafeteria staff at Rockville High School did just that by serving a spicy street corn at lunch.

"It was a big hit among the students," Fisher said.

The cafeteria staff made the popular Mexican street food dish from scratch with a recipe that featured cilantro, lime, chili powder, cheese, plain Greek yogurt (instead of mayo) and jalapeno-roasted corn.

Due to its popularity, it will be back on the menu in April, Fisher said.

That was good news to one senior who missed out because of a day off on PSAT day.

"Wait ... there was street corn at lunch?" she said. "I love street corn."
