Suspect Revived from OD, then Arrested for Vernon Home Invasion

The arrest was from a Vernon home invasion case.

VERNON, CT —A local teen has been charged with home invasion for a violent incident in March during which devices used for medical marijuana smoking were stolen, police said.

Ryan Taft, 19, was also charged with conspiracy, first-degree robbery and second-degree assault with a firearm, according to an arrest warrant. He was held overnight Sunday on a $350,000 bond and was to appear in Rockville Superior Court Monday, police said. He was was wanted in the case and was arrested at Rockville General Hospital after being revived from taking too many opioids, police said.

The warrant stems from a complaint filed on March 9 by a resident of Claire Road in Vernon. Two days earlier, just before midnight, four males walked into the home and demanded to see several pieces of "expensive glass," the name one victim used to describe high quality smoking devices for medical marijuana, according to a warrant.

The devices stolen were worth about $1,500, but one person inside the home was beaten up and a gun was brandishes during the incident, according to a warrant.

Taft was identified through a photo lineup, according to a warrant. One person who was inside the home recognized him from previously running drugs for a dealer, according to a warrant.
