Suspected Drunken Driver Takes Out Highway Sign In Vernon: Report
State Police said a suspected drunken driver slammed into a highway sign early Saturday.

VERNON, CT — A suspected drunken driver took out a state sign on Interstate-84 our the weekend, state police said.
At about 3 a.m. Saturday, a 2009 Honda CRV with a 24-year-old Middletown woman behind the wheel was headed east on I-84 near the Exit 64-65 interchange, according to a crash report.
The car suddenly veered off the road and smacked a state Department of Transportation sign, according to a crash report. The sign was left wrecked, state police said.

Police suspected the driver of being drunk and administered a field sobriety test, which she failed, according to a crash report. She was subsequently arrested and charged with driving under the influence and a lane violation, records show.
She was not injured, but the car sustained "disabling damage," according to a crash report.
