Suspended Driver Flees in SUV After Violent Incident in Vernon

VERNON, CT — A man involved in a violent incident on Woodland Street was tracked down a short distance from the residence and arrested on Wednesday, police said.

Danaray Cupe, 38, of 21 Woodland St., Vernon, was charged with interfering with an emergency call, third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace, records show.

He fled the scene toward West Street in a car with a suspended license and was also charged for that violation, police said.

He is a accused of throwing a "female victim" to the floor and grabbing her neck and later preventing her from calling 911 before fleeing the scene in a 2002 Ford Explorer, a report indicates.
