Switchblade Sets Off Courthouse Metal Detector, Man Charged
A man tried to walk into the Tolland Judicial District Courthouse with a knife, state police said.

VERNON, CT — A 68-year-old man was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon this week after trying to walk into the Tolland County Judicial District Courthouse with a knife in his pocket, state police said.
Marcel Cote, of Ashford, was for due for a court appearance on Monday, records show. The warrant in the case is currently sealed by the court. Also concealed from the public was what state police described as "a fully functional switchblade-type pocket knife," according to a report.
Marshals discovered the knife when Cote set off the metal detector at the entrance to the courthouse, according to a report.

He is due in court on Dec. 23.
