Travel Hoop Signups Under Way in Vernon
Boys and girls in grades 4-8 can now register for travel basketball teams in Vernon.

VERNON, CT - From the Town of Vernon: To the parents of all BOYS & GIRLS in Grades 4 through 8, if your son or daughter is interested in playing travel basketball they must register by OCTOBER 17 TH . The deadline was extended due to poor registration. All players registered will go through 3 try out dates at the end of October.
Players who do not make the team or do not register will be eligible to play in the recreation league.
On October 18th a decision will be made as to how many teams there will be, this will be decided by the number of players registered. Please be sure to register by October 17th .

Our goal is to contact as many boys and girls to inform them of all the information. This is an excellent opportunity to have your son/daughter learn the fundamentals of the game and play against some tough competition and have some fun. This program is a feeder program to the Middle School and High School teams.
Parents can register online through the Vernon Parks and Recreation Department. A $50 fee must accompany each registration.

Here are some important facts to know:
- The BOYS will have a 5th , 6th , 7th and 8th grade teams. Registration will dictate the number of teams.
- The GIRLS will have a 5th and 6th grade combined team and a 7th and 8th grade combined team. Again this is dependent on registration.
- Season starts around the first week of December and goes until March.
- The schedule consists of approximately 20 games including playoffs
- Some of the opponents are Bolton, Coventry, East Windsor, Ellington, Somers, etc
- Most games are played on weekends
- There will be one or two practices during the week.
- The cost per player TBD, due upon making the team.
- EACH TEAM WILL NEED TO FUNDRAISE TO OFFSET THE COST OF THE PROGRAM. There will be a number of options... Coaches will explain the day of the parent’s meeting and brainstorm.
