VERNON, CT — A pickup truck hit a jersey barrier so hard early Saturday on Interstate-84 that if left "gouge marks"on the concrete, state police said.

The crash took place at 3:39 a.m. on the eastbound side of the highway, according to a report.

A 2010 Dodge 1500 pickup was in the center lane, just west of Exit 67, when its left front control arm broke, according to a report. The truck went veered into the jersey barrier to the left and skidded along it for about 500 feet, according to a report.

The driver, an 18-year-old from New Hampshire, escaped injury, according to a report.
