Truck Slams Into Historic Mill In Vernon

VERNON, CT — A truck hit one of Vernon's historic mills on Tuesday evening.

The single-vehicle crash took place at about 6:45 p.m. It appeared to involve a medical issue, police said. There was no word on the condition of the driver Wednesday morning.

The blue pickup truck was traveling on West Main Street toward the downtown area. It seemed to have suddenly veered to the left, crossed the opposite lane, jumped the sidewalk and hit a section of the old Hockanum Mill complex at 200 West Main St.

The mill is now the New England Motorcycle Museum complex, which houses a showroom and a repair business.

The building had minor scratches after the crash.
