Tuesday Morning Crash Latest In Rash Of Rollovers In Vernon
Police and firefighters are asking the public to slow down a bit after yet another serious crash in Vernon.

VERNON, CT — A streak of rollover crashes continued Tuesday morning in Vernon with an accident on Hartford Turnpike, fire officials said.
At about 10 a.m., police, fire and medical crews responded to a two-car crash with injuries in front of Vernon Chevrolet.
One vehicle had rolled over and and a person who was initially thought to be trapped managed to get out before being transported to an area hospital, fire officials said. A tire flew off the car.

Police on Monday, even before the latest crash, said drivers must be cognizant of speed in town.
"Please use caution when driving and be attentive on the roads," Vernon Police Department spokesman Lt. Rob Marra said.

Fire officials added wet conditions lately haven't helped.
"With several rollover accidents recently, please remember to slow down, avoid distractions, and leave more distance during inclement weather," they said.
Two other examples of recent speed-related crashes took place Saturday.
An incident on Reservoir Road involved a vehicle that veered off the roadway into a ditch. The driver was able to climb out and suffered no injuries, but the car was wrecked, fire officials said.
Crews later in the say responded to Phoenix Street at Washington Street for a sport utility vehicle that had rolled over. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
On Monday, a car rolled over on Box Mountain Road and involved minor injuries
Though it was not a rollover, on July 31, a moped driver was killed in a collision with a car on collision.
