Woman Dead, Man Hurt After Pedestrians Hit In Vernon: Police: UPDATE
The roadway was closed to traffic as police investigated the Wednesday morning incident.

VERNON, CT — Two elderly pedestrians were hit by a vehicle on Warren Avenue in Vernon Wednesday morning, with an 81-year-old Tolland woman eventually succumbing to her injuries.
The woman who died was identified by the Vernon Police Department as Anna Krocheski, 81, of Tolland.
Police identified the male pedestrian as Joseph Krocheski, 83, of Tolland, who sustained serious injuries, but is in stable condition.

According to the VPD, the accident happened in the area of 205 Warren Ave. at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said the collision happened where the Rockville Spur section of the Vernon Rails-to-Trails crosses over Warren Avenue.

Upon arrival, Vernon police located an adult female pedestrian and an adult male pedestrian
lying in the roadway of Warren Avenue, police said.
In addition to police, Vernon EMS and the Vernon Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene to provide medical treatment.
According to police, first responders administered life-saving medical care to the victims and both were transported to Hartford Hospital.
The female pedestrian later died as a result of her injuries sustained from the crash.
Police located a 2004 Toyota Sienna minivan facing east in the middle of Warren Avenue, which appeared to be involved in the crash.
The Toyota Sienna was operated by a 34-year-old Manchester man who was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
Vernon police and Metro Traffic Services are investigating the crash.
No charges have been filed at this time, police said.
