UTV, Drone Used At Vernon Brush Fire Scene

VERNON, CT — Firefighters had to take a walk in the woods on Thursday afdternoon to take care of a sizable brush fire off Route 30.

The fire was behind a home at 1177 Hartford Turnpike, the local address for that parcel on Route 30.

The Tolland Fire Department brought in a tanker and a Vernon crew brought in several hand lines while utilizing a Utility Terrain Vehicle in order to bring the fire under control.

Vernon police brought in a drone unit to identify hot spots.

The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes, fire officials said.
