A couch appeared in the middle of a highway lane in Vernon, state police said.

VERNON, CT — An encounter with a couch in Vernon last week wasn't very relaxing. That's because the piece of furniture was in the middle of a lane on Interstate 84.
The incident took place at 7:42 a.m. last Wednesday, according to a state police crash report.
An Ellington woman in a Honda Odyssey was heading West on I-84 through Vernon at about 65 MPH, according to a crash report. The woman told state police she did not see the 6-foot-long tan couch sitting in the right-hand lane until it was too late and the Odyssey slammed into the couch.
