VCMS Runners Setting High Standards Over 3-Year Span

VERNON, CT — The Vernon Center Middle School cross country teams have been o quite a roll over the past three seasons.

On a cold, wet and muddy day a week ago, both the boys and girls cross country teams from VCMS were crowned conference champions.

The win marked the third consecutive title for the boys and the girls took their second in three years.

The top five performers from the boys included Emmett Kristoff, Josh Martin, Andy Glidden, Kavan Jacques and Ben Finan.

For the girls the top five performers were Hailey Morgan, Destiny Fleeting, Rylee Zavatsky, Maddy Saucier and Iris Hida.

Three of the boys finished in the top 10 as well as four of the girls overall. There were many medals and smiles afterwards, but none more than Kristoff who went undefeated — winning every race he participated in this season.
