VERNON, CT — A car slammed into a restaurant in Vernon Friday morning, police said.

The restaurant in question was Oki Asian Bistro at 451 Hartford Turnpike, a hibachi and takeout establishment adjacent to the Shoppes at 30 Plaza. Somehow, a vehicle made its way into the parking lot and rammed the southeast section of the building, police said.

Police said Friday afternoon that they were still piecing together what happened. The brick on the building was smashed, as were the windows.
