Vehicles Collide Near Gas Pumps In Vernon

Two vehicles collided at a busy gas station in Vernon on Friday afternoon.

VERNON, CT — Two vehicles collided at a busy gas station in Vernon on Friday afternoon.

The crash took place at 2:25 p.m. at the Route 83 Cumberland Farms, police said.

It appeared that a vehicle was backing out of a parking spot and collided with another parked at a gas pump, police said. The driver near the pump then hit the accelerator and bumped the pump, police said.

One person was sent to an area hospital with a minor injury and two others refused treatment at the scene, police said.

A local building official and fire marshal were called to the scene to assess damage, police said. No gas appeared to be leaking, police said.
