VERNON, CT — Two small dogs were being cared for by Vernon Animal Control Wednesday after being located "abandoned" in the Rockville section of town the previous day, officials said.

The two canines were found — in a crate — along the River Street corridor, officials said.

The dogs seemed relatively comfortable in a photo posted on social media, but animal control officers were asking that anyone with information to on them to call 860-870-3558. The post was being shared all over Facebook.

  • "And the crisis in Connecticut continues."
  • "Aww poor babies."
  • "Sweet babies. I wish I could take them."
  • "I'm wondering if people are struggling so much with money that they can't afford their pets. That is absolutely NO excuse for dumping them though. This is so sad. Poor puppies."
