Vernon Checkpoint Leads To 2 Dozen Tickets

VERNON, CT — A seat belt checkpoint in Vernon on Tuesday resulted in drivers being cited for two-dozen infractions, police said. The checkpoint was funded by state and federal funds as part of the Click-it-or-Ticket campaign.

The checkpoint was set up from noon to 4 p.m. on Whitney T. Ferguson III Road at the Interstate-84 Westbound Exit 66 interchange.

Of the 24 infractions, 15 of them were for failure to wear a seatbelt.

Cell phone violations resulted in eight tickets being issued.

There was one insurance violation and one car was towed away, police said.
