Vernon Cops Find Gun, Knives In Car During Traffic Stop
Two people were arrested on weapons and drug charges after a Sunday night incident in Vernon, police said.

VERNON, CT — Two people were arrested on weapons and drug charges after a Sunday night incident in Vernon, police said.
According to a report, the charges resulted from a traffic stop at 7:40 p.m. along the 1200 block of Hartford Turnpike, the local name for state Route 30.
Police said they found marijuana, "spring-assisted knives," cash, scales and a loaded .357-cal handgun in the vehicle.

Torell Crump, 22, of Vernon, was charged with:
- Carrying a dangerous weapon
- Illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle (5 counts)
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Possession with intent to sell
- Possession within 1,500 feet of a school or daycare
- Use of drug paraphernalia
He was held overnight on a $100,000 bond and was to appear on Rockville Superior Court on Monday, according to a report.

Miguel Obyran Rivera, 22, of Vernon, was charged with:
- Possession of more than a half-punce of marijuana
- Illegal possession of a weapon on a motor vehicle
He was held overnight on a $25,000 bond and was to appear in court Monday, police said.
