Vernon Cops Looking For Bandits Who Sprinted For Cigars

VERNON, CT — Vernon police are looking two bandits who fancy Dutch Masters cigars after a weekend convenience store break-in.

The caper took place at 12:05 a.m. at Erum's Convenience Store. That's the Citgo station at 81 Union St. in the Rockville section of town.

Two bandits forced their way into the business and stole Dutch Masters cigars, Newport cigarettes, Game brand cigars, and cash, according to a police report.

The thieves were captured on surveillance video inside the store, but police said the images do not reflect their actual clothing color due to lack of light in the store.

The suspects were actually wearing dark-colored clothing, police said.

One suspect was wearing Converse style sneakers, white gloves with black writing on the back of the hand, a black hat with white writing on the front, and a red scarf tied around his head, according to police.

Police said the second suspect was wearing a black hooded jacket and light colored gloves, and distinct sneakers. The suspects are believed to be from the area and fled on foot.
