VERNON, CT — Vernon police Thursday caught a pair of suspected burglars on the roof of a home in town.

The call came in from a Woodland Street home at 11:30 a.m., according to an arrest report. When officers arrived, they located two men on the roof of the home's porch and discovered that a window had been smashed.

Witnesses said one of the men stuck his head inside the home after breaking the glass, according to an arrest report.

The men were identified as Elijah Ortiz, 19, of Hartford and Jayden Lopez, 20, of East Hartford. They were charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief, held overnight on $50,000 bonds each and were to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Friday, police said.
