Vernon Cops Out in force on DUI Patrols Wednesday
Police will be conducting extra patrols all weekend in Vernon.

VERNON — It's still Thanksgiving, but you better watch out and better not cry if you get pulled over Wednesday night into early Thursday morning as part of a focused drunken driving detail with Vernon police.
Vernon police will be conducting extra patrols on local roads with marked and unmarked vehicles beginning with Wednesday's evening commute into the wee hours of Thanksgiving morning.
All weekend, police will be targeting seat belt violations and impaired driving with extra patrols.

The enforcement efforts are funded through state and federal highway safety grants.
Officers will be patrolling in marked and unmarked vehicles and will be issuing fines of $92 to anyone found in violation of the seat belt laws.
