VERNON, CT — Vernon police last week came to the rescue of a man whose electric wheelchair broke down in the middle of a street, then discovered he was wanted for skipping court dates.

The call came in at 11:18 p.m. on Sept. 2. Officers responded to Bellevue Avenue and located a 48-year-old local man in a wheelchair that had a dead battery, according to a report.

The man was asking for help after becoming stuck in the middle of the street and police determined he was in need of medical attention, a report indicates. Police then arranged for him to be transported to Rockville General Hospital, according to a report.
