Vernon Coronavirus Update: Cases And Vaccinations

VERNON, CT — Coronavirus cases and hospitalizations have been trending down in Connecticut over the past few weeks.

Connecticut had 36.1 daily average cases per 100,000 population between Jan. 24 and Feb. 6 — that’s the lowest two-week average since early November.

Vernon recorded 31 new coronavirus cases between Feb. 4 and 10. There have been 1,634 cases recorded since the pandemic began and 47 coronavirus-deaths.

Vernon had 21.7 average daily cases per 100,000 residents between Jan. 24 and Feb. 6 and a positive test rate of 4.10 percent. There were 34 average daily cases per 100,000 residents in the previous two-week reporting period. It’s important to note that a relatively small number of cases can have a big effect on the case rate, especially in smaller towns.

The state opened vaccination appointments for people between 65 and 74 years old on Thursday.

Vernon had 2,609 first doses administered as of Feb. 11. About 8.89 percent of town residents have received at least one dose and 55.58 percent of residents 75 and older have received at least one dose.
