VERNON, CT — Here's what to know about the 2024 edition of Vernon's annual July in the Sky fireworks celebration.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday both in Downtown Rockville and at Henry
Park.

The rain date is Wednesday.

All family friendly festivities are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at each location.

The gates will open at 6 p.m. at Henry Park. with live music, food vendors and amusements like bounce houses and other inflatables. Admission to Henry Park is $10 per car and $2 per walker (cash only). A wristband for activities and amusements is $15 (cash only).

In Downtown Rockville, the annual Push, Pull and Pedal Patriotic Parade steps off at 6:30 p.m.
Participants can decorate their bicycles and other non-motorized vehicles beginning at 5 p.m. in the former Ladd & Hall parking lot near Dollar General. There is no charge to watch the fireworks in Rockville. Bracelets for access to activities and amusements are $10 (cash only).

The evening culminates with a fireworks show fired from Fox Hill Tower, the highest point in
Vernon. The show is visible from throughout the region, but the best viewing spots are in Henry Park and downtown Rockville.

The fireworks show will begin after 9:15 p.m.

"July in the Sky is a tradition we look forward to each year," Vernon Mayor Dan Champagne said. "It’s a great opportunity for everyone in our community to come together, enjoy a great time and then view am amazing fireworks show."

During the fireworks celebration, there will be several road closures, detours and parking restrictions:

  • Route 74 (West Main Street and East Main Street) will be closed between Elm Street and Court Street from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. There will be a posted detour in place.
  • St Bernard’s Terrace, Park Place and a portion of Park Street will be closed to traffic as well.
  • A number of temporary "No Parking" areas will be posted in Downtown Rockville, as well as the vicinity of Henry Park.
  • Parking will be prohibited on South Street and some side streets will be posted with one-side only parking.
  • Public parking is available inside Henry Park. All vehicles must enter Henry Park through South Street.
