Vernon Gas Pump Altercation Seemed Like Robbery: Report

VERNON, CT — A recent altercation at a Vernon gas station was so loud and animated that a citizen called police thinking it was a robbery, a report indicates.

The incident took place at 8:02 p.m. on Jan. 14 at the Cumberland Farms on Route 30, or 343 Hartford Turnpike, according to a report.

After receiving a call about a robbery in progress, officers located at the fuel pumps a black Acura identified in the complaint. In the car were Nicholas Rush and Stephanie Zayas, both 27 and from Vernon, along with two of their children and a friend of Zayas, according to a report.

An argument Rush was having with the other occupants of the Acura was so loud and animated that the 911 caller thought it was a robbery, according to a report. When police questioned Rush about a suspended driver's license and the argument, Zayas lunged at police, a report indicates.

Zayas was charged with interfering and rush was charged with second-degree breach of peace and driving while under suspension, according to a report.
