Vernon Gets an 8-Inning Win Over Windsor

The game was a pitcher's duel.

VERNON, CT - The Vernon-Rockville 9/10 Division Little League squad was an 8-inning, 3-2 winner over Windsor in District 8 tournament action this weekend.

Rockville Manager Charlie Chatterton said the game was a defensive struggle and a pitching duel with 32 combined strikeouts by starting pitchers Lexi Real of Vernon-Rockville with 14 and Jessica Burgeson of Windsor with 18 strikeouts for Windsor in the extra inning loss.

Caitlin Chatterton pitched the eighth inning for Vernon-Rockville.

Real had an outstanding day at the plate with two timely hits, a two-run homer in the fifth and double in the eighth inning.

Real ultimately scored the winning run in the bottom of the eight inning to end the game.

Morgan Geisinger (single) and Madison Pitkin (double) also had hits for Vernon-Rockville and Chloe Keane, Morgan Geisinger, Real, and Chatterton made excellent defensive plays in the field.

For Windsor, Annika Lachniet had a double and a triple and Addison Shaffer had two hits and played a strong game behind the plate.
