Vernon Good Friday Walk In A Bit Shorter, But Still Raising Donations

The Good Friday Walk has been a tradition in Vernon since 1984.

VERNON, CT — The Cornerstone Foundation is inviting community members to participate in the annual Good Friday walk, which will take on a shorter route than it has in the past.

The event event is scheduled for April and will again begin and end at the Rockville United Methodist Church.

The Good Friday Walk will benefit Cornerstone in Rockville. Registration for the event is available online. Those not wanting to walk can sponsor a walker and donate online as well. Participants and spectators are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable donation to be collected at Fox Hill Memorial Tower during the walk.

The walk starts at 9 a.m., with participant registration beginning at 8:30 am. The start and finish will be at Rockville United Methodist Church at 142 Grove Street, Vernon. The walk will be about 3 miles through Rockville and parts of Henry Park. There will be a water and snack station near Fox Hill Tower.

The local Good Friday Walk began at Rockville United Methodist Church in 1984. Prior to last year, the walk consisted of 20 miles through Vernon, Ellington and East Windsor. The goal is to raise $10,000 for Cornerstone to continue the programs to address the needs of the community.
