Vernon To Host Flu, Coronavirus Testing Through Winter

Vernon's regular regional testing and flu shot clinics will continue through the winter, but may be moved in bad weather.

VERNON, CT — Vernon's regular regional Tuesday and Thursday coronavirus testing and flu shot clinics will continue through the winter, but may be moved to the host medical group in the event of inclement weather.

That location would be Priority Urgent Care, 105 West Road, Ellington.

A change in clinic location will be announced in advance on the Town of Vernon’s website and social media accounts.

Appointments are recommended, but not required. People are encouraged to call Priority Urgent Care at 860-454-0678 for prescreening.

"Having convenient, ongoing COVID-19 testing here in Vernon is an important service to our residents," Vernon Mayor Daniel Champagne said. "The increase in COVID-19 infections makes our testing clinics all the more important. Thanks to our partnership with Priority Urgent Care, we are able to continue offering this service to the community."

The clinic schedule is:

  • Tuesdays, 9 to 11:30 a.m., at St. Bernard's Church, 25 St. Bernard’s Terrace; drive-thru and walk-up.
  • Thursdays, 9 to 11 a.m., Vernon Senior Center, 135 Bolton Road; drive-thru only.

All insurances are accepted for coronavirus tests, although patients may be responsible for a copay or deductible. People without insurance will be tested for COVID-19 regardless of ability to pay. Most insurance covers flu shots, otherwise there is a modest fee. Flu shots are available to people 4 and older.

Ongoing FREE state-sponsored COVID-19 testing is also available 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Rentschler Field, 615 Silver Lane, East Hartford.
