VERNON, CT — The town of Vernon has launched a bi-weekly video series aimed at providing townsfolk with information about town government and what town departments do for residents.

In the first video, released this week Monday, Mayor Dan Champagne introduces the series.

"The Town of Vernon has a lot to offer, both in terms of services and special programs," Champagne said. "Our employees and departments work hard every day on behalf of our residents and we want the community to know about that."

Called “Rock Solid: Behind the Scenes of Vernon-Rockville,” the series will offer interviews with department heads and town employees.

"These short videos are a great way to tell residents about all of the services we offer," Town Administrator John Kleinhans said. "We work hard to get information to residents about town issues via our website, social media and the press. We are using existing budgeted funds to reach people through video with the goal of engaging more of our residents."

The town is partnering with Burden Media of Vernon to produce the videos.

"At Burden Media, we believe every community has a story worth telling and telling it well matters," owner Danny LeGare said. "Collaborating with the Town of Vernon gives us the opportunity to highlight the
people, businesses, history, and everyday moments that make this town charming."

Topics of upcoming videos will include Parks and Recreation Department offerings and the work of our Public Works, Police and Fire departments.
