Vernon Landlord-Tenant Dispute Leads To Arrest Over Bag Of Candy
A bizarre incident in Vernon led to the arrest of a man over a stolen bag of candy, police said.

VERNON, CT — A dispute between a landlord and tenant in Vernon led to the early morning arrest of the resident over a bag of candy, a police report indicates.
At 1:06 a.m. on Sept. 24, Vernon police responded to a dwelling on Phoenix St. to investigate a complaint that a tenant's landlord was banging on the front door and "calling him names," according to an arrest report.
Dispatchers then notified officers at the scene that the person who called in the complaint had an active warrant for his arrest over a shoplifting charge.

It was for sixth-degree larceny at a local store involving an $8.99 bag of candy, according to police records.
The 28-year-old was charged and is due in court Tuesday, records show.
