Vernon Man Charged With Sexual Assault After Bank Altercation: PD

An incident at a bank branch in Vernon has led to sexual assault charges against a local man, police said.

VERNON, CT — An altercation at a Vernon bank last month has led to a sexual assault charge against a 67-year-old local resident, police said.

Vernon police Tuesday charged Dwight Barrows in connection with the July 15 incident at the Key Bank branch, 348 Hartford Turnpike.

Vernon Police served an arrest warrant on Barrows charging him with fourth-degree sexual assault, second-degree breach of peace and second-degree unlawful restraint. Barrows is accused of inappropriately touching a woman at the bank and not allowing her to leave the bank’s vestibule, police said.

Barrows was held overnight on a $50,000 court-set bond and was to appear in Rockville Superior Court Wednesday, records show.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and are asking that anyone with information about the incident to call them at 860-872-9126.
