Vernon Man Gets Four For Cross-Checking

That was four days in the lockup after a hockey stick attack, police said.

VERNON, CT - Forget that four-minute major in the penalty box that could be rendered in the National Hockey League.

A Vernon man spent parts of four days in the lockup for cross-checking.

Brian Miltz, 39, of 15 Bolton Road, Vernon, is due for his second appearance in Rockville Superior Court on June 20, according to law enforcement records.

He has been charged with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and interfering, police said.

Police said Miltz assaulted his roommate over a rent dispute, police said. He is accused of punching his roommate several times and then grabbing a hockey stick and cross-checking the roommate, police said. He said he would throw the roommate's belongings out the window so the roommate would never return, according to an arrest report.

He at first refused to answer the door for police, but eventually came out and was arrested, according to the report.

The incident was on May 27 and Miltz was in the lockup on a $2,500 bond un til his May 30 court apperance.

He eventually posted the bond, court records indicate.
