Vernon Man Subdued With Taser After Fleeing Cops: Report
A traffic stop turned into a chase in Vernon on Monday.

VERNON, CT — A Vernon man is facing seven criminal charges after crashing into a Union Street garage and then fleeing police on foot before being subdued with a Taser on Monday night, according to an arrest report.
The incident involving the 24-year-old started at 8:50 p.m., when an officer on patrol noticed a car that appeared to have no registration plates, according to a report.
The officer attempted to stop his vehicle, but it sped away and crashed into a garage at 88 Union St., according to a report.

He fled on foot, was caught on Oak Street, but fought with the officer and had to be subdued with a Taser, according to a report.
He had crack cocaine on him, according to a report.

He was charged with:
- Assault on a public safety officer
- Interfering with an officer
- Possession of a controlled substance
- The use of drug paraphernalia
- Operating an unregistered motor vehicle
- Evading responsibility
- Operating a car without insurance
He was held overnight on a $25,000 bond and was to appear in court Tuesday, police said.
