Vernon Man Who's Been 'Running Amok' In Town Arrested On 5 Warrants
A man described as a frequent visitor to the Vernon police lockup has been arrested on five new warrants.

VERNON, CT — A 32-year-old Vernon man who has been described by detectives as "running amok" through town has been arrested on five warrants.
The warrants served to Steven Houser were released Tuesday by Vernon police. He has been charged in connection with five incidents in May and June, but also has 11 outstanding cases in Rockville Superior Court, records show.
Houser was also described in warrants as a frequent visitor to the Vernon Police Department lockup.

The five warrants include:
- Charges of third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening in connection with a May 29 stabbing in Vernon.
- Charges of third-degree larceny and driving while under suspension related to a stolen vehicle case. Hauser is accused to stealing a Honda Odyssey on Union Street after a wholesale beauty supply salesman left it unlocked with the keys inside while visiting a store. The car was was worth $5,000 and the inventory in the car was worth another $5,000, according to a warrant.
- A fifth-degree larceny charge from June 14, when Houser is accused of running out the front doors of the Family Dollar Store on Windsor Avenue with a cash register, taken while leaning over a counter as a clerk was distracted. It contained $523.
- Charges of second-degree larceny, third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief related to a theft at the NY Deli Mart on School Street. Houser is accused of smashing the front doors and stealing 210 packs of cigarettes valued at an average of $13 per pack, seven large lighters worth $20 each, 20 small lighters valued at $4 each and 40 "emoji" lighters worth $3.50 each. He is also accused of taking $120 from a register and between $3,000 and $4,000 from a filing cabinet.
- Charges of disobeying the signal of an officer and driving unreasonably fast while escaping apprehension on June 23.
