The newly completed Vernon Marsh Trail is ready to be dedicated.
The Friends of the Hockanum River Linear Park and the Vernon Parks and Recreation Department have scheduled a noontime dedication ceremony to commemorate the completion of the trail on Friday, May 3, at the trailhead, located at the entrance to the Vernon water treatment plant, 100 Windsorville Rd., near the Vernon-Ellington line.
The trailhead welcomes walkers and hikers with informational signs and directions.
The trail itself meanders through the marshlands adjacent to the plant.
Officials said the project was made possible through a Recreational Trails Grant administered by the State of Connecticut Department of Energy andEnvironmental Protection.
