Vernon Mayor Champagne Not Running For Another State Senate Term
Vernon Mayor Daniel Champagne is no seeking re-election to the state Senate.

VERNON, CT — Vernon Mayor Daniel Champagne Friday announced that he will not seek another term as the state Senate's 35th District representative.
Champagne said he actually reached his decision over the summer after the 2021 session concluded. He said he did not want to make it public until he was sure.
He was re-elected mayor last November. Champagne is a retired police officer in Vernon and was on the job for 22 years. He served six years on the Vernon Town Council, and in 2013 I was first elected mayor of Vernon. In 2018, he was elected to serve as Senator of the 35th district.

Champagne told Patch Friday that it was simply time to spend more time with his family. He became a grandfather for the first time about a year ago.
Champagne is remaining Vernon's mayor.
