
Barbara (Bartlett) Newcomb, 92, of Vernon, wife of the late Walter A. Newcomb, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at her home with her family at her side.
Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Raymond and Gladys (Stentaford) Bartlett, she lived in West Hartford, Farmington, and Manchester before moving to Vernon 57 years ago. She was a longtime member of Union Congregational Church in Rockville, and served on the Board of Deacons for many years. Barbara was an active member of the Woman's Fellowship. She enjoy making Chrimon ornaments for the church's Chrismon Tree. She loved to cook, sew, knit, make Christmas ornaments, and spend time with her family. She was often hear to remark that her children were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her beloved children, Wayne Newcomb of Vernon, Joel Newcomb of Stafford, and Nancy Newcomb of Vernon; a sister, G. Joan Estell of South Windsor, and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sister, Betty Cooper.

Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville.
Her family would like to thank all the staff at DaVita Vernon Dialysis Center and the Visiting Nurse & Health Services of CT for the wonderful care they gave to Barbara.
