
Carlos M. Ortis, 73, of Rockville, beloved husband of the Late Virginia L. Ortis, passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, on Sunday, December 31, 2017.
Carlos was born in Puerto Rico on June 28, 1944 to the late Leopoldo Martinez and Genoveva Ortiz. In 1952 he moved to Brooklyn, NY for ten years before making his way to CT, and in 1982 he moved to Rockville where he spent over 35 years.
Carlos had a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, and proudly served our country with The United States Army. Carlos was a hardworking intelligent man, often described as generous, helpful, and loving. He loved to talk and was a great story teller in both English and Spanish.

He enjoyed traveling with his late wife, Virginia. Carlos supervised construction in multiple countries including Japan and Saudi Arabia. He enjoyed sporting events, going to baseball games, watching the NY giants.
Carlos is survived by his son Andrew Ortis and his wife Oh, of Florida; daughter Katherine Ortis, of Columbia; 4 brothers and 3 sisters; 5 grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews, all whom he adored so very much.

Funeral Services are being held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2 Maple Street, Ellington, at 10:00 am, with visitation from 9 -10 am. Interment will follow services at Grove Hill Cemetery in Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carlos’ memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
