
Elmer (Tim) Wiers, 85, of East Windsor, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2016 with his family by his side, and to be with his daughters and grand-daughters in heaven.
He was born June 12, 1930 in Stafford Springs, the son of the late Elmer (Orlando) and Lucille (LeBreck) Wiers. He lived in East Windsor for the past five years previously living in Ellington and Vernon and grew up on Soapstone Mountain. He served in the US Army from 1951-1953 as Corporal in the Korean War. He retired from Amerbelle Corp. in Rockville. He was a native born and loved fishing. He was proud of his Indian Heritage. He was a member of the Rockville Fish and Game Club, the former PAC Club, the American Legion and Italian Club.
He is survived by his three daughters; Tammy Wiers of Tolland, Deborah Robertson (Wiers) and her fiancé Chris from Castleton, VT, and Linda Wiers-Lavoie from Manchester,CT; his many grandchildren and great grandchildren,his brothers; Art Minor and his wife Roseanne of Vernon, Raymond Wiers and his wife Dot of ME, his sisters: Diane Minor of Rockville, Kathy Nieves of Vernon and Carol Landry of Enfield, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves a very special companion Karen Kupec -Shane whom he lived with for the past 23 years and her extended family. In addition to his family he leaves a long-time class friend, Steve Neptune of Crystal Lake, where Tim enjoyed many summer picnics with family and friends. He was pre-deceased by his brother Robert and nephew Bobby.

Relatives and friends may join the family on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 2 – 4 pm at The Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. A Funeral Home Service will take place on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the ICU at Rockville General Hospital and the staff from Bliss III and Bliss 5E at Hartford Hospital for their compassion and care.
