Vernon Obituary: Frederick Burgess, 86

Frederick "Rick" C. Burgess, 86, of Vernon, beloved husband of 66 years to Donna (Vosbury) Burgess, passed away on March 24, 2016 while at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain.

Rick was born in Johnson City, NY on January 24, 1930 to the late Ralph and Helen (Scudder) Burgess. He served in the U.S. Army as a MP in Germany and Austria. He was a graduate of Harpur College in Endicott, NY which later became SUNY, and worked for Security Mutual Insurance Company of Binghamton, NY until moving to CT to work for The Hartford Insurance Company until he retired in 1994. After his retirement he also worked with the business office in Manchester Manor as well as the Community Child Welfare Clinic.

Rick is survived by his wife Donna Burgess; his son Brent and daughter-in-law Cheryl Burgess of Vernon, his son Mark Burgess of Colebrook; and his granddaughters Kelly Burgess of Arlington, MA, and Elizabeth Burgess of Vernon. He also leaves his brother James Burgess of Victor, NY and nieces Lora Dunahoe of Victor, NY, and Lynda Milford of Farmington, NY.

Services will be private at the convenience of his family. Burial will take place at the First Congregational Church of Vernon's Memorial Garden at a later date.
